ShopDisney have been releasing some really great home wear products over the last year or so. They have a long way to go for most rooms in the house compared to stores like Primark, ASDA and Next, but they really excel in the Kitchen. Disney eats is part of a Disney Franchise that hopes to introduce a new excitement around cooking. Their Cooking Utensils range has been getting better and better and now it is time for me to count down my top 10 products.
10 – The Mickey and Minnie Clips
Food clips are a new revelation for me. Fr years I have just been rolling up the end and hoping for the best. I know this product isn’t unique to Disney, but I love the simple design of this product. At £5 for a pack of four, it is pricier than normal clips, but who wouldn’t like to open their kitchen cupboard and see Mickey and Minnie smiling back.
9 – Mickey, adult and child Rolling pin
Disney have done this item before, but it is really nice to see it back. The £10 set includes a normal sized rolling pin for adults, and then a smaller one for children. With Mickey printed all over it there is no doubt whoever uses this is a big Disney fan. When making cookies this is one of the major elements so it is a great place to start.
8 – Mickey Head Bowls
At first I was a little skeptical about these as they are £14 for 4. Although they come in four colours, Red, Black, yellow and white, all of which associated with mickey, they are basic. These will be great for puddings or ice cream but their size isn’t brilliant either. This does make the perfect product if you have more than one child and you want to control portion size. My biggest plus about these bowls is actually their use elsewhere in my kitchen. Instead of pudding, I can add dips and sauces for when my friends come round. It will also make a really sweet addition to my Christmas snack table.
7 – Red Mickey Colander
So, I have a confession. I don’t have a colander, I usually use the lid of the saucepan and pour the water out the best I can. I have never seen the need for one but actually they are one of the most useful things that you can have in your kitchen if you make plenty of pasta. With this being said, £18 is very steep and it will need to be o offer before I grab it. The holes are in the pattern of Mickey heads and if I were to get one then it would definitely be this one. I have also noticed a lot of positive comments about this piece on social media but for me it doesn’t reach higher than 7th place.
6 – Disney Eats Spoon set
These are really nice and I think will make a great addition to any kitchen. There are two sized spoons which will be useful for soup ans stews, or pasta bakes. At £10 for 2 some people may think that they are on the tad expensive side, especially as they are plastic. All of the utensils are priced at £10 so there is consistency. I will most likely pick these up for my Disney Birthday party next year.
5 – Mickey Drainage Spoons
Again, another set of utensils, but these are not common in other stores. The two drainage spoons are easily available plain but I have never seen the pasta on in a Disney Design. Disney have worked hard to try and complete the set and these are some of the last ones that are needed. I missed out on some last year so I hope they will re-release some of the designs. This set will be one of the ones you will regret missing out on as it may never come back.
4 – Mickey Pizza Baking Tray
Again, this is an item that I don’t actually have one of. However, unlike the Colander, I have wanted one. The simple black design with the holes in Mickey head shapes is perfect for my kitchen and is a really nice subtle Hidden Mickey for anyone’s home. When we started out getting Disney Home wear we only looked for Subtle things. Now this has expanded a little but it is nice to see something like this available. At £10 there are cheaper ones out there and I would say on get this if you are a pizza fan and you or your kids will appreciate it.
3 – Top 3 territory now and to be honest any of these could take top spot. But in third place – Mickey ‘Oh Boy’ Tin Opener.
The cute design for this is one of the best in the range, even though it is used in all the designs. The product actually looks sturdy and the metal parts make it look more expensive that it’s counterparts elsewhere in this list. At £9 it is one of the cheaper items but I have a small annoyance with all tin openers as they don’t have a long life span. This being said, I will pick them up and get back to you in a few years to tell you if they were worth it.
2 – Mickey Mouse Tea Towels
Just missing out on the top spot is a new style of Tea Towels. The reason why this set appeals to me more than others is because of the brilliant design on both towels. Sometimes you get a really good design on the first one but then a boring and half-effort pattern on the other. Although there is a pattern on the second one it is by no means rubbish. This is actually the better towel of the two and matches the other items in the range. The front towel is red with a darker red Mickey head background. Mickey is saying HI across the majority of the towel. At £10 for the two, I would say it is best to hold off until there is an offer as Mickey tea towels can be picked up everywhere.
1 – Mickey Mixing Bowl
But it’s a bowl! You might cry! Well, yes it is, but it makes my top spot. The Design is so simple and so subtle that it isn’t as garish as some of the other items could be. The Simple white colour and red insides means that this can be used for more than just a mixing bowl. I plan on grabbing this item as soon as I can. At £16 it is the second most expensive item in the range but I will get more use out of this one that its counterpart in the last release. The Bowl is made from Stoneware with a gloss finish which makes it more usable for me than the plastic ones released last year. I should note that the website lists it as a serving bowl.
