Top 10 Disney Facts about The Little Mermaid So, you think you know everything about The Little Mermaid, well lets see…. 10 – The Colour of Ariel’s tail was specially made for the film. The Colour is called … Ariel 9 – Jim Henson planned a live action Little Mermaid TV series. The shows would include a real Ariel surrounded by Muppet characters. After he died there was issues with the contracts and the exisiting programs made were never aired. 8 – Pat Carroll, the voice of Ursula, can’t sing Poor Unfortunate Souls in one go. Instead, she sang parts that were ultimately pieced together. 7 – A Disney Fan theory suggests that the sunken ship at the beginning of the film is actually the one that Anna and Elsa’s parents died on. Another theory suggests that they didn’t die, instead they gave birth to a baby boy on a remote island. The boy would become Tarzan. 6 – King Triton appears as a float in The Princess and The Frog, whilst Mickey, Donald, Goofy and Kermit the Frog all appear in The Little Mermaid. 5 – An animation company was hired just to add the bubbles. 4 – Jody Bensen, the voice of Ariel, also voices Weebo in Flubber and Barbie in The Toy Story Franchise. 3 – Part of Your World was going to be cut from the film. If it wasn’t for the passion of an animator then it would have just been another extra on a DVD at some point. 2 – It was hoped to do well, but the film was never expected to be bigger than Oliver and Company. This was because, apparently, boys films did better…. 1 – Ariel’s hair is only red because of another mermaid film that came out a few years before.
