For the readers in the US: You don’t know how good you have it with Disney products. For the readers in the UK: Don’t you just wish we had the same products as the US. Well the bridge seems to be closing as we tend to get the same things or smaller ranges now, but there are some products that we would beg to have over here. What you are about to read is a list of Christmas Hanging Ornaments that are available on the US ShopDisney website. These products may arrive in the UK soon as there are months until Christmas but here are my top 10 ‘I want them’ ornaments:
Number 10: Mickey Mouse head – with mickey and Minnie shadows
Here in the UK, the only way to get these types of baubles is to head to the website and look at the Park’s shop. We can only get the plain coloured ones so this one is such a luxury. The design is really nice and I hope that it is introduced onto our website. The chances of this are slim but hopefully we will see it one day.
Number 9: Mickey Ice Cream Bar
This may be a personal one, but this will only mean something to those who have been to Walt Disney World in Florida. As soon as I saw this it brought back some really sunny memories. I can’t wait to go back and this ornament will look amazing with the other snack ones they do. Although I have picked this above the others, there are loads that I would have in this range and I think they would look really nice together.
Number 8: Angry Donald
We do not get enough Donald love in the UK. For his birthday we had a plush and that was that, we are getting a really smart double sided Ornament as part of the legacy range but it is very rare we get any Donald merchandise. What I love about this one is it is not a clip from a scene. I always prefer a pose rather than an action shot, and grumpy Donald is perfect.
Number 7: Santa Mickey and Minnie
I have around 40 Mickey ornaments for my tree so I am kind of glad that this one isn’t yet available in the UK. With that being said, I think it is one of the best Christmas themed ornaments we have seen in a long time. I always find it odd when we see other seasons depicted in the ornaments and the last good joint Mickey and Minnie we had was a hula dancing couple done in the old comic book style. Although it was really nice, this Santa one is perfect for the tree.
Number 6: R2 D2
What I like about this ornament is the simplicity of it. Sure it lights up but there is something so simple about this design and the fact we don’t often see R2D2 designs anymore as they favour BB8. We do have a few Star Wars ornaments already but they are all from other stores. None of the previous Disney Store efforts have really caught our eye.
Number 5: Olaf and Sven
Ok, so Frozen is everywhere and no doubt we will see some kind of Frozen merchandise hit our stores after the predicted huge success of the sequel. This will most likely mean that poor Sven and Olaf will be pushed to the side when we see the others. But when the hype of the sequel is over, this will be the one you wished you had got. Our Frozen ornaments in the UK have been limited for a few years now so this is a welcome addition.
Number 4: Abu and the Magic Carpet
At last – Aladdin is such an underused film in the Disney Store here in the UK. He is often pushed aside even though he has a huge fan following. For years all we could get in the UK was the odd mug. Things started to look up when they introduced a Jasmine Costume and doll of Jasmine and Aladdin but before the Live Action remake, Aladdin received little attention. So thank god that we get to see the odd bit arrive in stores this year and now we find out America has an Aladdin ornament. So we have the Genie this year but the design is similar to a previous release, for us, this Abu on the Magic carpet is brand new and we want it.
Number 3: R2 D2 Millennium Falcon
I am not the biggest fan of Star Wars but my partner is. With that being said, I can appreciate how amazing this will look on a tree. For me it fits in with the way the UP house floats and Mary Poppins and I think this is an amazing addition. I can’t help but feel that they should have included some other crafts from the franchise as this will be a top seller. I hope we do get this one in the UK as for me it is the perfect ornament.
Number 2: Heimlich
It is criminal how underrated A Bugs Life is. The film was such a huge success but always seems to be forgotten behind huge blockbusters like Toy Story, Monsters Inc and Cars. For Pixar fans we want more and what is better than our favourite caterpillar. If this arrives in the UK, my partner will most likely buy this one for himself. For younger fans I don’t think this will be as popular as the Princesses or the Toy Story releases but for those of us in our 20s and 30s this will be high on our lists.
Number 1: Hercules and Phil
Who put the Glad into Gladiator? Well with the lack of any product for our Hercules we were beginning to forget. We never see anything for our Greek hero and it is such a shame. Earlier in the year there was a Pain and Panic limited release which I missed out on but other than that there is only Pop Vinyls to fall back on. Now, I have seen a Meg ornament which will be released in the UK so we will have some huge cheers for that, but what we really want is ‘HER-CU-LEES! It reaches my top spot as this is one of my favourite films and even if we didn’t have a Disney Tree, I would still be wanting to pick this up.
I hope we get to see some of these ornaments over the next few months, ShopDisney do like to release different ones throughout the coming months so hopefully there will be more to see in the UK. This list will be revised when I see more. Are there any that you hope we get? Are you heading to America and are going to try and pick some of these up? Have you seen one that isn’t on my list but you think should be? Let me know!
