With the Christmas season just 4 months away I have already started to look at various different decorations for my home. I will post so much about the Disney Ornaments and ShopDisney Decorations over the next few weeks. But first, I wanted to look at something that was a new find for me, although they have been out for a little while now: Christmas Disney Pop Vinyls.
Now there are more out there and I have seen them for other franchises like Spongebob Squarepants, South Park and Elf. This list is my top 10 Disney Christmas Pop Vinyls.
10: The Santa Clause
A great hit in the early 1990s, this film stars Tim Allen as Scott Calvin who accidentally kills Santa. He puts on the suit and continues to give out the presents. It is only when he is done does he realise that he will now become the next Santa. What’s nice about this pop figure is the obviousness of it. Currently available on Amazon, Forbidden Planet, Zavvi and Pop in a box.
9: Belle and the Beast in Winter clothes
Ok, so straight up, these are separate figures but together they are really nice. They have been out a few years so they may not be the easiest to pick up. They are both dressed in the outfits during the song ‘Something there’ from Beauty and the Beast. This is one of my favourite films and I am glad that they did these. Remember to Display them together. Currently available on Amazon, Zavvi and Pop in a box.
8: Nightmare Before Christmas Santa Jack
It was really difficult to pick the best one from the Nightmare before Christmas range as there are so many. We all have our favourite character but for me I thought I would go with the most Obvious: Jack. There are much more different designs to choose from but out of the ones I have seen for Jack this is my favourite. However for the fans of the film, this may become an expensive buy as there are so many.
7: Mickey with Present
The older of the two Mickey Christmas pop still makes the list. The great thing about this mickey is it’s price. You can pick this up for under £8 from most places. It is a simple design and if you are going to get a mickey and money is no problem then go for the Santa Mickey, but this one is just as good.
6: R2D2
I like the cheekiness of this one, the antlers are a really small touch but effective. The great thing about this one is it doesn’t distract from the character too much. It also feels appropriate and reminds me a little bit of Max, the Grinch’s dog. There are other Star wars figures out there for Christmas, some are good and some are not as good. Others include a weird Santa C3PO, and a plain Chewbacca with lights that doesn’t quite work for me. Others are on the list.
5: Groot
This is the sweetest thing and it just works. There are other Marvel Christmas pop vinyls out there, such as the Hulk holding presents, but Groot is cute and sweet and will make a perfect and subtle decoration. This wont stand out too much and wont look tacky.
4: Winnie the Pooh
New for 2019, WInnie the Pooh is all ready for Christmas in this new Pop Vinyl. This has made my wish list since I saw it first time, It is a nice edition and with it being Pooh, it is suitable for all ages. It has only just been released and I can find it on Pop in a Box and Zavvi, It wasn't on Amazon at the time of checking but that maybe because it was a brand new release. There is also a Piglet available but he is quite small, although in proportion to Pooh, he isn’t worth the price currently.
3: Yoda
Right, so this is Yoda in a Santa Outfit. I don’t know what more I can say about this one, it’s one of the best things I have seen in a long time and I really want this. Which is saying something, as I am not a Star Wars fan. As mentioned above there is a range of Christmas Star Wars Pop Figures but some don’t quite work. This one does. It is also available in many places including Amazon, Zavvi and Pop in a Box.
2: Santa Mickey
Just missing out on the top spot is the new 2019 Santa Mickey. He is really good and would have made the number one spot. Because it is new, I haven’t seen it anywhere else other than Pop in a Box so we may still be waiting on a release date. Once again, Mickey is dressed as Santa which isn’t original to Pop Vinyls. If you are wanting a Santa Mickey and Price isn’t an object then check out ShopDisney and Jim Shore products as they will have some released. For the Pop Vinyl enthusiasts, this is the better Mickey of the two available. There should be a Minnie but I can’t seem to find it anywhere. No doubt the two will match and will make a great pair.
1: Darth Vader
Some of you may think this is an anti-climax and to some extent it is, but the reason Darth Vader makes the top spot is the uniqueness of it and the fact he is still in character. If we create a story behind why the Characters are dressed up and imagine that Darth Vader has been forced into the festivities then we will understand that he doesn’t want to dress as Santa, doesn’t want to be covered in lights, however he will hold a candy cane as deep down he does have a heart. This one will make it into our house this year and I cant wait to see it hidden amongst the others.
