So it’s no secret I love Disney and this this first of many ‘My Disney Life’ Blogs I will take you round the aspects of my life. There will be no reviews of films or Characters in these ones but just a simple get to know me session.

My home is one of the things I’m most proud of. I love the way it looks, the views, where it is and, most importantly, how much Disney Stuff I can fir in it.

My partner, when we met, liked Disney. He liked Stitch and Aladdin and enjoyed playing with Buzz and Woody as a kid. He had the videos and the book but his major interests lied elsewhere.

Enter ME!

So I was the same as him for many years, I had the books and videos and loved going in the Disney store, not that I could afford anything. It wasn’t until I started working there that I began to appreciate it for what it was. I will do another blog about this point of my life but Disney was there for me and in return I became a fan.

When I moved out of my parent’s house I did get one or two bits for my new house, mainly with my Disney Discount (Oh how I miss it). When I then had to move out of this house I started to look for the little bits that I wanted in my house. After a year of Sofa hopping and staying at my partner’s we moved in together. And slowly but surely the third person known as Disney began to move in.

Now we live in a house that we bought together and I have convinced him that is it isn’t Disney we don’t want it.

What I like about my Disney House is that nothing actually looks Disney until you get a close look at it. Obviously this isn’t true of everything and you will see by the pictures that it isn’t but for the everyday use items I like there to be subtlety.

My Kitchen has the biggest amount of Disney Items in it (technically it’s the Christmas decorations box).

My favourite item has to be the cutlery set. Looking at it there is just a normal fork, knife, table and teaspoon set, but look closely, can you see at the ends? There he is, my hidden Mickey. I love this set and it was one of the first home ware items I ever bought. I lived with friends at the time but we soon decided to move out. I didn’t think it was worth opening them then re-packing them so they remained in a bag…. That was until I moved in with my partner. Neither of us had a cutlery set but I said that I did have a Disney one. So they became our everyday use. We have lost three teaspoons since then but apart from that it’s all good. When we went to Disney World in Florida last year I saw a serving set that was in the same design, Luke, my partner, didn’t like them and thought they were a waste of money. This was whilst I was in the queue waiting to pay for them. I also got a pair of salad tongues in the style of Mickey’s hands. So if anyone comes over for a meal they will be served using the Disney Appliances and eat with Disney Cutlery, it rarely gets noticed but that’s not why I have them. It’s for when they get noticed and the extra detail that brings.

We don’t currently have plates, don’t tell Luke but the second I find some I like is the second we will get plates; we do, however have Glasses. We have three sets of Disney Glasses. The ill bought Marvel ones, where the pattern continues to come off every time you touch them (If you get one of these when you come round then I would take it as an insult), the oldest of the sets includes a sketched Mickey, Donald and Daisy. These were bought many years ago and I was going to throw them. They were the first Disney Home ware that Luke insisted we kept.

The third set is unfortunately the most short lived. A Glass Statue would have lasted longer falling out of a window than these glasses did, which is a shame as I really like their simple design. We bought them from Disney Land Paris and we were so worried that they would all break before we got home. Thankfully they didn’t on the plane, just went we washed them up! These are now kept for special and will most likely be packed away or put in our merchandise room (Something for another day to go through).

Along with the glasses we also have a mug each. Mine was bought by myself for myself when I left retail. I was going to work at a desk and I needed a mug. I loved my goofy mug when I got it and used it whilst I was there. Now it’s at home, it’s more just for show. But I have seen the replacement set. Yes that’s right, I plan on replacing my one Disney mug with a Disney set! Luke knows!

Luke’s Disney mug is Stitch, I bought it him whilst I was at the Disney store and he uses it for all of his hot drinks. Every time I see a new Stitch mug I show him but he thinks they are all rubbish compared to this one.

The cup holder in the photo actually belonged to my friend, I have always wanted it and when she just gave it me I was thrilled. Even more thrilled when she gave it me on a day when Luke was away and I could just put it up in the house! I have a rule where if it’s up it stays =)

She also gave me a coaster set, this sits in front of our TV, which is a great place because I was worried that I might not be able to find anything Disney to put there and we might end up with something else, most likely grey. He loves grey things and I would much rather live in a colour world rather than a black and white film. Quite fittingly the coaster stand is black one of the brightest colours ever!

That’s not all I have in my kitchen that’s Disney, our magnet collection includes two types of magnets, Places we’ve been and Disney, or in two cases, two Disney parks we have been! I don’t know how this collection started but we were just as Disneyland Paris and before I knew it we owned a set of magnets. Some of them were bought at the Disney store before it closed on its last day. I loved that store and to see it go was actually an upsetting experience, Sad I know, but it was a part of me. These magnets, along with some Christmas goodies were my last purchases from the store. I also grabbed a set for my two Disney friends who I worked with. So it was a nice full circle kind of thing.

Not running out of things but annoyed we don’t have more; I move on to our tea towels, these were one of these impulse buys that I just love. We bought our original two in Paris and we must admit we didn’t treat them very well. They are now discoloured which is a shame. However I picked up two more additions from Primark (God Bless you Primark) and I am determined for these to last longer. These are also our ‘Best Tea Towels’ the ones I get out when people are over. Again I liked them because they are subtle and not garish.

This cannot be said however for my little enchanted corner, it started with a chip mug. (Once again God Bless you Primark!) And it just grew. My Nanna was on a mission to pick these up and it was a race between my Nanna and my friend who would see them first. We had an arrangement, whereby who ever saw them first would pick the other person up one. My Nanna was responsible for my Chip and Mrs Pots where my friend got the Lumiere and Cogsworth. Luke is not impressed with these and would much rather they were in a box somewhere or never bought in the first place. HOWEVER once they are up they are up!

Originally I thought about setting them up as a Christmas piece and this year I will. The whole enchanted Christmas aspect will look really good and I want to put some work and effort into it. Last year it was a little bit of ‘We have so much more space to fill so spread it out’ but this years I can pick bits to concentrate on and work on them. Watch this space.

So that’s the guided tour of my kitchen, As time goes on I am sure there will be more to show you and I look forward to doing so, I will move on from the kitchen in another post but for now I’m off to make a cuppa.
